With only 49,700 km on the clock, this car is in a state of preservation that is simply astounding. The paintwork is superb, with only the slightest gravel impact on the front, and the interior shows only slight creases on the driver's seat. The wheels retain their factory diamond-polished finish, and all the special components are present.
This three-door model is finished in the superb Noir Magic nacré (LC9Z) color, and features the splendid König heated bucket seats and optional electric sunroof. Of course, the trunk also features the optional extras label.
The only departure from the original - if it can be described as such - is the installation of an Alpine radio with pivoting color screen, MP3 and navigation compatibility, remote control and original CD changer: the height of high-tech in 2002.
This R32 was sold new in France by the garage Clauzier et Genin in Montélimar. First registered on November 22, 2002, it bore the registration number "7339WJ 26". On February 21, 2005, our collector purchased it from the Audi Bauer dealership in Saint-Ouen, near Paris. Thanks to a few contacts at the prefecture, it was then registered with a personalized number that would appeal to enthusiasts of the genre: "632 XD 21".
It comes with an ultra-complete set of documents: dashboard folder, stamped service booklet, warranty booklet, Audi Occasion passport, several technical inspections, 2002 network guides and other user manuals, including those for the Beta Volkswagen radio. In 2014, having clocked up 41,000 km, our pioneering enthusiast now uses it as a collector's car, with the utmost care.
On board, it's worth remembering that the perceived quality of the Golf IV, particularly in its best-equipped versions, is far superior to what the compact class was offering at the time. The seriousness of the design, the materials used, the precision of the adjustments and the finesse with which the body panels are assembled still commands respect. Here, the state of preservation of plastics and controls is impressive, with no damage to the soft-touch coating, despite its reputation for fragility.
In our eyes, this Golf IV R32 is the apotheosis of the genre, and a unique case on the market with less than 50,000 km. It perfectly embodies the golden age of the early 2000s, when sports cars still offered full equipment, convincing soundproofing... while delivering real sensations, to the delight of their owners.
