Old master paintings and drawings

Witnesses to the artistic genius of past centuries, paintings and drawings from the 15th to the 19th century constitute a precious cultural heritage that Gros & Delettrez has passionately promoted since its founding. Our auction house stands out for its ability to reveal the significance and uniqueness of each work. Our sales feature renowned artists while also highlighting lesser-known talents whose merit deserves recognition.

Quality is at the heart of our selection. Each piece undergoes meticulous examination, ensuring artistic excellence and the preservation of our shared heritage. To this end, we work closely with the Turquin and De Bayser expertise firms to guarantee rigorous authentication. This approach has allowed many works to join museum collections, enriching the cultural heritage, while others have been acquired by private collectors, reflecting the trust placed in our expertise.

Our sales illustrate the diversity of centuries and regions represented. The Italian High Renaissance is embodied by Girolamo Giovenone, while the Italian Baroque is exemplified by Jusepe de Ribera and the Master of the Emmaus of Pau. Northern painters are also prominently featured: Corneille de La Haye (known as Corneille de Lyon), Ambrosius Bosschaert, Jan Brueghel II, Denijs Van Alsloot, David Teniers, Aelbert Cuyp, and Cornelis Pieterse are among the masters presented.

France is also proudly represented, with Alexandre-François Desportes and Meiffren Comte in the field of still life. The following century, marked by the Rococo movement, features Watteau, François Boucher, and Jean-Marc Nattier, Rector of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture, followed by Augustin Pajou.

Through in-depth research, we provide a true narrative around the works, often silent witnesses of their own history. Our sales thus become a privileged opportunity to engage authentically with art and offer a space for discussion about this exceptional heritage.

We remain at your disposal for any valuation requests and to assist you in enhancing the value of your works.
