Աստուածաշունչ [BIBLE]. Venice, Imprimerie Antonio Bortoli, 1733. In-4, [5] f. (including engraved title, title and 1 plate), 1280 p., contemporary Armenian binding in full red leather, spine with 5 nerves, richly ornamented bindings, boards decorated with a gilt iron with religious subjects, bordered by a gilt frame, edges chased and gilt (binding worn, clasps missing, lower board damaged (wood missing), marginal defects including stains and small losses at the corners of pp.1276-1280 (slightly affects the text of the last leaf). According to the preface, this edition of the Bible, comprising the Old and New Testaments, was carefully organized and first printed in 1666 under the authority of Jacob, Catholicos of Armenia, and edited by the priest Voskan. Designed according to Latin traditions, it aimed to harmonize the Holy Scriptures. The present reprint has been produced with high-quality paper, refined illustrations and elegant typography, thanks to the efforts of Mekhitar Vardapet of Sebaste, known as Abba Père. The book features 156 woodcut vignettes. The text is adorned with initials, headbands and endpapers.
