HERINGA, Adriani Heringa ( ), *Observationum criticarum liber singularis in quo passim veteres Auctores, Graeci maxime, emendantur*, Leovardiae, published by William Coulon, 1749. Small 8vo, 1 blank leaf, (8)-VIII-318 pp., 1 blank leaf, engraved wooden initials. Stitched hardcover in vellum from the period, handwritten title on the spine (paper slightly browned and vellum somewhat soiled). A very rare 18th-century classical work in Latin and Greek in its original binding. Written by the Dutch philologist and physician Adrianus Heringa (1718–1779) and printed in Leeuwarden (Netherlands). This “Treatise” is a textual critique of Greek and Latin authors. Only one entry in the CCFr (2 copies at the BnF). Later Le Tronne ex libris stamp featuring Greek letters. Provenance: from the library of Pierre Séjourné. Pierre Séjourné (1930–1993), a Parisian bookseller and lover of bookbindings, a flutist, and an enthusiast of literature and classical music, frequented both the Parisian artistic and literary circles and the world of the Decorative Arts and their schools through his uncle, the architect and academician Albert Laprade. Also an author and actor, he devoted himself to writing and performing his own plays, which were staged primarily in the Paris region.
