Large folio (51.5 x 35 cm), X-156-LI pp.; pp. 157–240; 102*-3-(2) pp.; XXVIII-10-(1) pp. The publisher’s fawn-colored sheepskin, cold-stamped fillets on the covers, brass corners and rivets, ribbed spine (binding scuffed, joints split, end caps missing, worm damage, water stains, some marginal tears extending into the text on pp. 25–30). A large-format 19th-century edition of the Roman Gradual, printed in 1854 by order of Godefroy Saint-Marc (1807–1878), Bishop of Rennes, and adapted for use in the Diocese of Versailles. An impressive liturgical work compiling the chants intended for the celebration of Mass according to the Roman Rite, with their musical notation, and also including the Proper of the Season, the Proper of the Saints, and the Common of the Saints. Enriched with a Supplement for the Diocese of Versailles, as well as a “Supplement for Certain Places,” bringing together pieces specific to various particular uses. The table of contents notably lists several churches, including Sainte-Geneviève, Saint-Denis, Saint-Cloud, Saint-Germain, Saint-Louis, and Saint-Sulpice, each accompanied by its own feasts and offices.
