Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) - Lot 424
Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) 1913 Peugeot 6cv "Bébé" Gouache on card stock 42 x 56 cm (signs of moisture, mold, and soiling) Notes: “Designed by Ettore Bugatti, this delicate miniature was a genuine scaled-down car and not a quadricycle. It was powered by an 856 em water-cooled four-cylinder engine featuring a T-shaped cylinder head, a cone clutch, and a three-speed transmission. The semi-elliptical springs at the front and inverted quarter-elliptical springs at the rear are characteristic of Bugatti’s designs. Unfortunately, unlike the other cars he designed, the Bébé was slow and unstable.” Bibliography: P. DUMONT, *Aux Temps Des Automobilistes*, Lazarus Publishing, 1965; our gouache reproduction appears on p. 59.
