Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) - Lot 420
Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) Delage D8-85 1934–1935 Gouache on card stock 29.5 x 37.5 cm (traces of moisture, mold, and soiling) Notes: “Louis Delage added this model to his lineup—which already included five different types—just as Delahaye acquired his brand. The 3.5-liter inline-eight engine (79.25 x 90.5 mm), with overhead valves, was integrated with a fully synchronized transmission—an exceptional refinement for the time. The engine-transmission assembly was mounted in a flexible cradle. The front suspension featured independent wheels with transverse springs and lower triangular control arms. The front and rear hydraulic brake circuits were independent. This sports limousine was bodied by Letourneur and Marchand.” Bibliography: P. DUMONT, *Aux Temps Des Automobilistes*, Lazarus Publishing, 1965; our gouache is reproduced on p. 193.
