Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) - Lot 419
Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) Talbot (France) Baby-Sport 1934–1935 Gouache on card stock 15 x 50 cm (traces of moisture, mold, and soiling) Notes: “The Baby-Sport was the first in the Talbot Lago lineage. It grew in size and engine displacement until it gave rise to the high-performance classics known as the Lago Spécial and SS. Its six-cylinder engine was initially a 3-liter (78 x 104.5 mm) unit with overhead valves operated by rocker arms. Power output of 80 CV at 3,800 rpm was later increased to 90 CV. A version with three carburetors reached 145 km/h, and the Type T-150 sports model reached 153 km/h. Among its distinctive features were the Wilson automatic transmission and the independent front suspension.” Bibliography: P. DUMONT, *Aux Temps Des Automobilistes*, Lazarus Publishing, 1965; our gouache reproduction appears on p. 193.
