Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) - Lot 414
Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) 1922 Super Fiat V12 Gouache on card stock 19 x 50 cm (traces of moisture, mold, and soiling) Notes: “Like the V12 models from Lancia and other brands, this project never reached the production stage. When it appeared at the Paris Motor Show in 1921, its engine was listed as a 6.8-liter (85 x 100 mm) unit producing over 100 CV. The following year, the stroke was increased by 10 mm, bringing the displacement to 7,890 cm³. Its overhead valves, housed in a removable cylinder head, were operated by rocker arms. The alternator, starter motor, and carburetors were mounted inside the V-engine. Some sources indicated it had a three-speed transmission, while others cited a four-speed. The rear axle was suspended by leaf springs with the attachment point located at the end of the chassis. This large, aristocratic-looking “brougham” made a striking impression with its rigid lines.” Bibliography: P. DUMONT, *Aux Temps Des Automobilistes*, Lazarus Publishing, 1965; our gouache reproduction appears on p. 105.
