Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) - Lot 409
Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) 1926 Lancia Lambda Gouache on card stock 28.5 x 46 cm (traces of moisture, mold, and dirt) Notes: “The Lambda was designed by Vincenzo Lancia in 1922. It was a cutting-edge vehicle featuring a chassis that also served as the structural framework supporting the body panels. The front suspension featured independent wheels. The narrow V-shaped four-cylinder engine had an overhead camshaft. The engine displacement gradually increased from 2.1 to 2.5 liters, and the transmission went from three to four speeds. The last two series (the eighth and ninth) featured a separate chassis, and this model remained in production until 1931. The model shown below is a torpedo from the seventh series.” Bibliography: P. DUMONT, *Aux Temps Des Automobilistes*, Lazarus Publishing, 1965; our gouache is reproduced on p. 127.
