Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) - Lot 407
Pierre DUMONT (1920–1987) Talbot (France) Pacific 1931 Gouache on cardstock 35.5 x 50 cm (signs of moisture, mold, and soiling) Notes: “The largest in the line of French Talbots—before Antony Lago surpassed it—the Racilic was a relatively heavy vehicle; its body, typically too large and too heavy, prevented it from achieving high performance. The engine was a 3.8-liter inline-eight (78 x 100 mm), with a crankshaft supported by two bearings and overhead valves actuated by rocker arms. The top two gears of the four-speed transmission were synchronized, and the suspension consisted of conventional semi-elliptical leaf springs with Repousseau friction shock absorbers. The configuration included a radiator with thermoregulatory louvers and a central lubrication system for the chassis. The top speed was 130 km/h.” Bibliography: P. DUMONT, *Aux Temps Des Automobilistes*, Lazarus Publishing, 1965; our gouache reproduction appears on p. 153.
