UFANO, Diego. Artillerie, c'est a dire vraye instruction de - Lot 199
UFANO, Diego. Artillerie, c'est a dire vraye instruction de l'artillerie et de toutes ses appartenances... A Rouen, chez David du Petit Val, 1628. In-4, (2) ff. including engraved title, 144-6 pp. 26 plates. Contemporary speckled fawn calf (binding worn and restored, quires out of order with a few leaves unbound, defects including wormholes, short margins, small tears...) French translation of this treatise on Artillery by Diego Ufano. The original Spanish Tratado de la artillería was first published in Brussels in 1612, before being translated and published simultaneously in French and German by the artist and publisher Johann Theodor de Bry (1561-1623), who designed the book's illustration. The present edition is the last and only one to be published in France. The original French edition was published in Frankfurt by Egenolff Emmel in 1614, and was republished in Zutphen in 1621. It features 26 black copper engravings. Absent from Graesse, which cites only 1621 and 16 plates.
