Pierre MILLE (1864-1941) French writer and journalist. - Lot 61
Pierre MILLE (1864-1941) French writer and journalist. Lot of 3 L.A.S. Various formats, including one on blue paper with stamp and address, May 27, 1911, a mourning-bordered letter, June 21, 1912 and a CDV, March 2, 1932. Despite their distance in time (1912 and 1932), two of the autographs are addressed to the same person, a "dear Master", and are praises mixed with reflections on writing or the difficulty of writing for an author. Perhaps the recipient of the 1911 letter is Léon Hennique (1850-1935), a French naturalist novelist, playwright and screenwriter born in Guadeloupe, a friend of Maupassant and the Goncourts. Mille's name is still attached to the Prix Pierre Mille for best reportage, awarded by the Syndicat de la presse française d'Outre-mer to a French-speaking print or broadcast journalist.
