[CASSINI DE THURY, César-François]. Atlas géographique et militaire de la France divisé en deux parties. A Paris, chez R. J. Julien, 1751. Oblong folio (ca 32 x 45 cm). Contemporary half vellum with corners, spine ribbed, red title page (slight rubbing to boards, a few leaves uniformly oxidized). Famous atlas of France, complete with its two parts and entirely engraved on copper in black with colored borders. The first part comprises a title page with a general map and 23 maps illustrating different parts of France. The maps are followed by 3 sheets of alphabetical tables. The second part includes small plans of 110 fortified towns in medallions with explanatory texts and coats of arms, preceded by a title page (Plans et descriptions de principales places de guerre et ville maritime et frontière du royaume... 1751) and an assembly table.
