Honda GL1000 Goldwing Série 1 1975 - Lot 186
Honda GL1000 Goldwing Série 1 1975 Chassis n°2000162 French registration Good condition Nearly 4,000 euros of service invoices Sold without CT Appraisal report available Acquired in 2003 by our collector, our first-generation Goldwing has since benefited from meticulous and regular maintenance. Having seen little use in recent months, it will need a little tune-up to take it out on the roads of France. Crankcase guards will be supplied with the bike. From 1972 onwards, Honda engineers set themselves an ambitious goal: to create the ultimate tourer, a GT that would surpass all others in comfort and practicality. The veil was finally lifted at the 1974 Bol d'Or with the presentation of the GL 1000 K1, the starting point of the legendary GoldWing line. This motorcycle borrowed its codes from the automobile, with its four-stroke, water-cooled 999 cm³ flat-four engine. Developing 84 hp, this engine is distinguished by its modernity, already complying with the environmental standards of the time. On the transmission side, Honda innovated by abandoning the chain drive in favor of a cardan shaft combined with a five-speed gearbox. To brake the beast's 295 kg, the manufacturer opted for a triple hydraulic disc. But the GL 1000's genius also lies in its details: its real fuel tank is hidden under the seat to lower the center of gravity, transforming the false tank into a clever trunk. Its sides open to reveal tools and a spare kick, while its smooth ride and unrivalled manoeuvrability make it a benchmark.
