French work from the 1970s - Lot 121
French work from the 1970s Yellow gold 750‰ forçat link "Butterfly" necklace, the textured wings set with onyx plaques, the insect body centered with a brilliant-cut diamond. Spring clasp. Diamond hallmark of Atelier JANCA. Adjustable length: 36.5 or 44.5cm. Design dimensions: 1.6x2.2cm. P. Gross weight: 6.3g. (Small chips on the diamond). Attached: Two cut lapis lazuli plaques for the butterfly's wings, slightly smaller in size than the onyx plaques. Particularly active in the 1970s for Van Cleef & Arpels, Atelier JANCA also produced jewelry for Fred and Piaget. Its creations are distinguished by the use of decorative stones in a variety of colors, such as chrysoprase, tiger-eye quartz, coral, onyx or turquoise, and by its work on metal textures. Animal subjects occupy an important place in his creations. The emblematic "Papillons" from the Van Cleef & Arpels Boutique - whose model is similar to ours - were notably made by Atelier Janca.
