HÉRISSON, Eustache - Lot 132
HÉRISSON, Eustache Plan routier de la ville et fauxbourgs (sic) de Paris divisé en douze mairies. Paris, Jean, 1823. On sheet. Large black copper-engraved plan (55 x 82 cm, including margins) entirely watercolored (pink and green) at the time and mounted in 2 parts on canvas (small wormholes, some very discreet pitting and minor lateral wear without gravity). Attractive figural plan of the capital under the Restoration, with the Seine running horizontally. Engraved title block. One of the plans of Paris by Eustache Hérisson (1759-1832), an engineer and geographer who was a pupil of Rigobert Bonne and whose work was much appreciated. A prolific cartographer, he reworked his plan of Paris over several years, notably in response to economic and political changes, and was particularly active before 1830.
