[Paris] BACLER D'ALBE, Louis Promenades pittoresques et lithographiques dans Paris et ses environs. Paris, A la Lith. de G. Engelmann, 1822. In-folio, [1] f. (title), 35 pp. 48 plates in black. Nineteenth-century red half-chagrin with corners, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets and fleurons, gilt author and title (rubbing to spines, headpieces and edges of boards, inner hinges damaged, foxing to title and 1st ff., lighter to plates, pale halo in head margins). The only early edition of this collection of lithographs illustrating sites in and around Paris, with accompanying text. It is the work of Baron and General Louis Albert Ghislain Bacler d'Albe (1761-1824), a painter and geographic engineer attached to General Bonaparte as head of his topographical office. Bacler d'Albe also illustrated several scenes from Napoleonic campaigns and drew maps that contributed to the Emperor's strategic decisions.
