CHAUSSEMICHE, Benjamin. 1886. Elevation of a church dome. Black ink and light wash enhancement. Size: 96.7 x 65 cm Title at bottom of drawing: "Construction - Charpente en bois d'un dôme", and "Échelle 0,02 Pr Me". Top left: "n° 46" in blue pencil, date stamped "-7 mai 1886" and signed "Barbier". Signed lower right: "B. Chaussemiche, El. M. André". Benjamin Chaussemiche (1864-1945) was born in Tours. He entered Louis-Jules André's studio at the École des Beaux-arts de Paris in 1883. He was admitted to the first class of architecture in October 1886, and in May 1890 was awarded the prize of the Société centrale des architectes français. His future projects include the Louvre and the Château de Versailles.
