FER, Nicolas de. The Empire of the Turks in Europe, Asia, and Africa. A Paris, chez Danet, (ca 1700-1710). Sheet (54 x 76 cm). Large copper-engraved map in black (49 x 59 cm at the basin), colored borders (light soiling, discrete stains). Rare early state of this very detailed map of the Turkish Empire by Nicolas de Fer. It shows the extent of the Ottoman Empire in Europe, Asia and North Africa. Earlier state of the map with the inscription "Géographe de Sa Majesté Catholique" after the author's name. Nicolas de Fer was geographer to the Grand Dauphin from 1690 until his death in 1720. Adorned with a large decorative cartouche bearing the title, scale and explanatory text. Engraved on copper by P.
