A very fine copy.
Modern, critical Latin edition of Quinte-Curce's work on Alexander the Great, printed here in Delft and Leiden by Adrian Beman and Samuel Luchtmans in the early 18th century. This text is one of the cornerstones of the Alexander vulgate, and its publication brings together the preserved books of the text, enriched with supplements, variant readings, and critical comments and notes by a number of humanists and philologists. Volume I is illustrated with 15 black etchings: a frontispiece engraved by F. Bleyswyk after H. Vander My, a large fold-out map of the region conquered by Alexander the Great and 13 etchings, title in red and black with vignette. The second volume contains 4 copper-engraved plates, also in black.
