Illustrated by Jacques Henri Lartigue. A picture book from the early 20th century, with hand-glued photographs in various formats depicting the first bicycles, gliders, airplane flights in France, and clothing fashions. All captions are humorously written. Bound in burgundy cloth, gilt title and ornaments, black-and-white childhood photograph pasted on the front cover. Excellent condition. Enclosed is a book entitled "Les Courses dans l'antiquité" by Caran d'Ache, Plon Nourrit et Cie, undated [ca. 1900]. In 4° oblong (25 X 34cm.) yellow and red percaline illustrated with black drawings, red edges (A. Lenègre & Cie Relieur Paris) 64 pages, including one page of advertising. First edition. The copy is fully mitered and illustrated in color, sometimes on double-page spreads. All the characters are caricatures of the celebrities of the day, be they political, sporting, social or otherwise.
