In 2002, with the Zoomer, Honda gambled on originality with a surprisingly minimalist look. The Zoomer 50 is not, however, a basic scooter. Quite the contrary, in fact, and it was quite a feat for its designers to manage to hide all the on-board technology in a machine where everything is visible.
The brief for the "Zoomer" project could be summed up in a single word: uncluttered.
Like it or not, it's hard to remain indifferent. As for the Japanese, they fall in love with it. Anticonformist in the extreme, with its tubular frame, small single-seater seat, wide handlebars and two bulging headlights, the motorized batrachian is a real hit in the land of the rising sun, where motorcyclists are unconditional scooter fans and perpetually on the lookout for something out of the ordinary.
Given the scooter's concept, the equipment is fairly basic. But as is often the case, what's most interesting isn't visible. In fact, this Zoomer inherits proven technologies from the large-displacement models in Honda's catalog, and houses a 4-stroke, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine with PGM-FI electronic fuel injection. The result is extremely low fuel consumption (2.5 l/100 km) and exemplary pollution levels! Beware, you're guaranteed to fall in love!
