Symbolizing the evolution of mores and the place occupied by women in society in the 1920s-1930s, women's watchmaking developed during the Art Deco period. Watches were incorporated into luxury items, such as precious necessities. The Janesich and Movado companies worked together, combining jewellery expertise with watchmaking precision, to create numerous clocks and accessories, such as this cigarette case. Atelier STRAUSS, ALLARD et MEYER specializes in the manufacture of precious cases and necessities, some of which are embellished with watch cases.
