Attributed to Eugène FEUILLATRE, French Art Nouveau work - Lot 29
Attributed to Eugène FEUILLATRE, French Art Nouveau work Rare and delicate collar necklace in yellow gold 750‰ with thin oblong links of square section enameled in sky blue, punctuated by twelve butterfly motifs held in tassels enameled in several shades of opaque and translucent iridescent blue, the wings treated in plique-à-jour, topped with fine white button pearls. Spring clasp. Length: 49cm. Butterfly dimensions: 1.3x1.7cm. P. Gross weight: 25.5g. (Slightly worn enamel). Eugène FEUILLATRE (1870-1916), a sculptor by training, trained in enameling in the workshops of René LALIQUE, where he was head of the studio between 1890 and 1897, before setting up on his own in 1898. Feuillâtre is particularly renowned for his enameling work, having developed multiple techniques of his own. Art Nouveau themes such as women, flora and butterflies were among his favorite subjects. Our "Butterfly" necklace may have been made during the period when Feuillâtre worked for René Lalique.
