МАРР, Н. Сборники притчъ Вардана, II, Текстъ, С.-Петербургъ 1894 [MARR, N. Les recueils de fables de Vardan, Iie partie, Texte, S.-Pétersbourg 1894]. In-8 (26 x 18 cm), cover title in Russian and text in Armenian. XVI-344 pp. Unpulled, top cover faded, spine and bottom cover missing. The son of a Scotsman and a Georgian, Nicolas Marr (1865-1934) was an outstanding linguist who, following in the footsteps of the Frenchman Marie-Félicité Brosset, systematically published Armenian and Georgian texts. Vardan is the greatest Armenian fabulist of the 13th century, whom Nicolas Marr edited very early in his career. It was Nicolas Marr's visit to Paris that prompted the Institut Catholique to create a course in classical Georgian. Marr's editions of texts from this period are virtually impossible to find.
