The author, Ekvtime Takaishvili, was the greatest Georgian historian, archaeologist and ethnologist of the first half of the 20th century, whose collections are rich in historical and ethnographic documents. One of his great merits was to have saved the national treasures during the Soviet invasion of 1921, taking them to France where they remained until Joseph Stalin asked General de Gaulle to return them to Georgia.
