(including an atlas for T.II), folio (37.5 x 28.5 cm), text in French, publisher's paperback (volumes I, III and IV partly unstuck, marginal wetness, heavier on volume IV reaching plates and map). Very important study on the anthropology of the Caucasus. Complete edition in four volumes, each with an atlas after the text, except for the second volume, which is accompanied by an atlas volume. A total of five volumes. The work consists of : Volume One. Prehistoric period (1885). xxxvi pp., map and plate hors-texte, XXXVI-93 pp. Illustrated with a map "Isthme Ponto-Caspien" engraved and printed in color by Erhard, a portrait of Dubois de Montpéreux heliographed and printed by Lemercier after Notz, 6 plates lithographed by Lunel under the direction of E. Chantre in 1883, a text sheet opposite each of these plates. Second volume. Protohistoric Period (1886) one vol. of text, 226 pp. with numerous in-text figures + an atlas of [3] ff. and 78 plates (15 on double pages) lithographed under the direction of E. Chantre after drawings by F. Am-Stein, Lunel, Brossette, and J. Blériot. They are numbered I to LXVII, with additional plates (Vbis, VIbiss, IXbis, Xbis, XIbis, XIIIbis, XIXbis , XXbis, XXIIbis, XXXbis, XXXVIbis ). The plates (except for double-page plates) are accompanied by a text sheet. The plates are drawn by and lithographed under. Tome Troisième. Historical period (1887). 136 pp. and 29 lithographed plates in black, including one in color and 2 on double page. They are numbered I to XXVIII with one XVIIIbis. One sheet of text opposite each plate (except double-page plates). Numerous in-text figures. Tome Quatrième. Populations actuelles (1887). 284 pp. and 31 lithographed plates numbered I a1 XXXI including 15 on double pages. Includes an ethnological folding map of the Caucasus based on the work of the author, Seidlitz, Komaroff and von Erckert, printed in color in Lyon by A. Roux. Provenance: Librairie orientale H.
