Our bracelet is inevitably reminiscent of Maison Cartier's work of the 1920's, both in the delicacy of its design, the richness of its materials and the colorful associations of the stones used, mounted on platinum. The combination of onyx and diamonds is particularly noteworthy. The bracelet's cylindrical links feature small onyx picots on a diamond pavage background, evoking the "panther skin" motif invented and used by the Maison Cartier at the time.
To be compared with several models signed Cartier Paris in platinum, diamonds, onyx and emeralds, auctioned by Dupuis Canada (December 4, 2006, lot 627), Christie's London (June 13, 2007, lot 101) and Bonham's London (September 27, 2007, lot 148).
