In the 1950s, the French General Staff issued a call for tenders for the manufacture of a military chronograph for Air Force pilots. Several brands, including DOD, Airin, Bréguet and Dodane, embarked on the Type XX adventure. In the mid-50s, Dodane proposed the Type XXI: it met all government specifications, including the famous flyback complication, a must for aviators. According to the manufacturer, around 5000 examples were produced, and our batch was used in the French Air Force, as attested by the engraving on the back at the end of the warranty.
