[Armenia]. Աստուածաշունչ [BIBLE]. Venice, Imprimerie Antonio Bortoli, 1733. In-4, [5] f. (including engraved title, title and 1 plate), 1280 p., later speckled plum-colored basane, spine with 4 false nerves, compartments decorated with gilded irons, black roulette on the boards (epidermures on the boards, copy split at the spine and upper jaw, lacks the engraved title page, half the title, and pp. 7-8, pp. 883-890 unbound and 3-4 partly flying, marginal defects including stains and soiling). According to the preface, this edition of the Bible, comprising the Old and New Testaments, was carefully organized and first printed in 1666 under the authority of His Holiness Jacob, Catholicos of Armenia, and edited by the priest Voskan. Designed according to Latin traditions, it was intended to harmonize the Holy Scriptures. The present reprint has been produced with high-quality paper, refined illustrations and elegant typography, thanks to the efforts of Mekhitar Vardapet of Sebaste, known as Abba Père. This copy features numerous woodcut vignettes and is adorned with initials, entablatures and caps.
