[Armenia]. [Manuscript]. Եղիազար բժշիկ վարդապետ [Brother Eliazar, physician]. Ուսումն բժշկութին [Treatise on Medicine], 1744-1749. In-4 (approx. 21.5 x 15.4 cm), 362 ff. (of which 7 bl.), full contemporary fawn basane, smooth spine (defects to spine, epidermis, worn corners and edges, soiling and stains in margins, signatures out of order). Important medical manuscript by Եղիազար վարդապետ (Yeghiazar Vardapet), 18th-century Armenian physician and monk. The colophon mentions three dates: 1744, 1747 and 1749, presumably corresponding to different stages in the writing or copying of the manuscript. The only clue as to the place of execution appears on the verso of the last page, where it is inscribed: "ի վանք արիգակ սբ նշան թուին հայոց էր յճառակուլ" - probably indicating that the manuscript was completed at the monastery of Arigak, Saint-Signe, in Armenian era 1193 (i.e. 1744 AD). The work contains a table of contents, several tables and a diagram Provenance: Եղիազար վարդապետ (Yeghiazar Vardapet), born 1718; imprint of a seal (ring) affixed in the manuscript.
