Contemporary red morocco half-basin with corners, ornate smooth spine, double gilt fillet on boards, gilt title and author in center of upper board, speckled edges (corners and headpieces slightly rubbed, foxing). First edition of this atlas published as a supplement to J. de Hammer's History of the Ottoman Empire, 1835-1843. It comprises 39 plates on 40 sheets, including maps of European Turkey (Ottoman Empire, Wallachia, Bulgaria and Rumelia in two sheets, maps of Albania, Greece, Morea, the archipelago and island of Candia), Asian and African Turkey (Asia Minor, Armenia and Kurdistan, Syria, Arabia, Egypt, Tunis and Tripoli, Algeria and Morocco), neighboring states (Austrian Empire, Russian Empire in Europe, Caucasus countries, Crimea, Tartary and Turkestan, Persian Empire), as well as battle plans (Angora, Varna, Belgrade...) and sieges (Constantinople, Rhodes, Vienna...).
