Paris, Imprimerie Administrative de Paul Dupont, (1850-1851). In plano format (44 x 63 cm), unpaginated (29 ff., 31 plates in black and 27 maps) in green half-chagrin with corners, spine with 6 raised bands, gilt author and title, richly decorated gilt caissons, double gilt fillet to covers. Elegant contemporary binding signed [Petit successeur Simier]. The only edition of this rare atlas of French horse breeds. A total of 27 maps and 31 plates (most with two figures) lithographed in black on prepared paper. Title page enlarged with a label from the Veuve Bouchard-Huzard, dated 1851, laminated at the bottom (the only edition starts in 1850 and was distributed until 1852 with an added label), introduction, a comparative table of the horse population between 1840 and 1850 and a sheet showing details of stallion deposits in the various districts. Binding a little bleached (traces) and a few angular wet spots.
