ARMS BINDING. GASTRONOMY. DISTILLATION. L'ART D'EMPLOYER LES - Lot 112
ARMS BINDING. GASTRONOMY. DISTILLATION. L'ART D'EMPLOYER LES FRUITS et de composer à peu de frais toutes sortes de confitures et de liqueurs, to follow on from La Cuisinière de la campagne. Paris, Audot, 1818. In-12, (4)-VIII-155 p., fawn calf, finely speckled (19th century), gilt roulette framing the covers, edges and head, gilt coat of arms in the center of the covers, gilt edges over marbling. Rare original. Often unknown in reference bibliographies, which cite only the reprint (by Quentin). Complete with line plate illustrating a domestic ice-house bowl buried by Susémilh. Provenance: Bibliothèque de Marie-Caroline de Bourbon-Sicile, Duchesse de Berry, with one of her gilded irons embossed on the boards (similar to OHR, 2519, no. 2).as this volume does not bear the ex libris of La Bibliothèque du château de Rosny, it undoubtedly belongs to the second part of his life, the titles of which will be found in posthumous sales. Spine missing. Old library label on 2nd endpaper. Discreet wear and tear (corners dulled, second cover slightly rubbed) and a few scattered brown spots, but the interior remains fresh.
