BEAUTIFUL PLATE BINDING. ROYAL ALMANACH for the year 1766. Paris, Le Breton, 1766. In-8 format. Contemporary lemon morocco, spine with 5 ornate raised bands, gilt title and year, gilt fleur-de-lys boxes, boards decorated with a large gilt plaque in the style of Dubuisson with interlacing garland framing, gilt roulette at the edges, gilt edges, embossed and gilt dominot paper endpapers. Rare almanac binding in lemon morocco decorated with plaque. The binding has tarnished a little, the gilding is less warm and the leather color has faded, but the object remains charming. Interleaved calendar for each month. Handwritten bookplate on one endpaper: "M[arqu]is de la Grange". Some rubbing to spine and edges, small tear to tail cover, some browning, but a fine copy.
