GERMAN JEWISH AUTHORS. YEARS 20-30. GERMANY. Lot of 2 autogr - Lot 4
GERMAN JEWISH AUTHORS. YEARS 20-30. GERMANY. Lot of 2 autographs by Austro-German Jewish writers from the first half of the 20th century. -Peter ALTENBERG. Large and beautiful P.A.S. in German, on headed paper. No date (ca. 1920-1930) In-4 format, brown ink. Peter Altenberg (1859-1919) was a well-known figure in late 19th-century Vienna, close to the "café writers" such as Karl Kraus and Hofmannsthal..., famous for his bills, aphorisms and dynamic handwriting. This manuscript is a "warning" note (Warnung), fairly typical of his style, a kind of aesthetic personal warning bill with moralizing lyricism, a warning addressed to a man... Altenberg insists on rediscovered virility, and the danger of women... Altenberg often lived in hotel rooms, notably at Vienna's Graben-Hotel, this manuscript being written on Graben-Hotel letterhead. "Your stay with women is mortal! Already the gods have in their grace restored you fully to health, so virile and simple! Don't interfere! You are so well received - you are for me in the most splendid bodily freshness - but not women - what counts is health and the essential!" -Else LASKER-SCHULER.poet and draughtswoman, one of the representatives of the avant-garde of German modernism and expressionism. Autograph bill in German in pencil on heavy paper (14 x 21 cm). No date.
