Զօհրապեան (Յովհաննէս) [ZOHRABIAN (Hovhannes)]. Պատմութիւն աստուածաշունչ գրոց Հին և Նոր Կտակարանաց [History of the Bible, Old and New Testaments]. Venice, Imprimerie Sainte-Lazare, 1805. In-8, 527 p., period speckled fawn basane, smooth spine, red title-piece, gilt fleuron and roulettes, speckled edges, (spine, joins, coupes and corners rubbed, small epidermures to boards, missing headpieces, light foxing, restoration to lateral margin of p.7). Second edition of this work by Hovhannes Zohrabian (1756-1829), written in modern Armenian (Ashkharabar) in the Constantinople dialect. According to the preface, the author sought to remedy the lack of biblical texts accessible to the general public. The author avoids all foreign linguistic borrowing, resorting to classical Armenian (grabar) only when the modern lexicon proves insufficient. The book includes two full-page illustrations.
