[Manuscript]. Յեքիմարան [Treatise on Medicine]. [ca. XVII-XVIIIth century]. In-18, (ca. 10x7.5 cm.), 174 f., contemporary Armenian full brown basane binding, smooth spine (top board slightly rubbed, leather missing from lower board, clasps missing, lower hinge and jaws split, quires out of order, qq. pages flying, extensive worm gallery at beginning of manuscript (missing first 9 leaves). This manuscript, entitled Յեքիմարան (Yekimaran, doctor's book or pocket medical manual), is a practical compendium of medical knowledge intended for everyday use, probably by an itinerant doctor or traditional practitioner. According to several handwritten notes scattered throughout the volume, the book was copied and annotated by a scribe named Մկրտիչ (Mkrtich). The latter left several personal remarks. The contents of the Yekimaran include remedies, recipes and clinical observations, as well as advice on diet and the treatment of common pains and illnesses.
