[Manuscript]. [Մաշտոց [MASHTOTS] and Regulations for the education of newborns / young children]. [ca. XVIII-XIXth century]. In-4 (ca. 20x14 cm.), 156 f., Armenian binding in full period black basane, smooth spine, cold decoration on spine and boards (upper boards damaged, spotting, corners dulled, upper flyleaf lining torn off, small wormholes on upper board through qq. leaves, first 11 leaves partly flying, soiling and wetness, quires out of order). This manuscript consists of two distinct parts. The first part is a Մաշտոց (Mashtots), a liturgical collection comprising 11 sermons covering the main rites of the Armenian Church such as baptism, marriage, funerals and commemorations. These texts were used by priests to conduct religious ceremonies. The second part is entitled "Սահմանադրութիւն դաստիարակութեան նորածնեալ մանկանց" (Regulations for the education of newborns / young children), an educational and moral text written according to հիշատակարան (colophon) thanks to the contribution of Astvatsatur and his wife Maghtum. The set was composed and copied in the church of the village of Apana (Աբանա / Ապանա), located in the historic region of Pokr Hayk (Little Armenia), in the sandjak of Şebinkarahisar, province of Sivas, about 20 km southeast of the city of Şebinkarahisar, in a mountainous region.
