Խորհրդատետր Պատարագին Հայոց, Lytvrgia Armena; [followed by] - Lot 179
Խորհրդատետր Պատարագին Հայոց, Lytvrgia Armena; [followed by] Սպասաւորոիթիւն Պատարագի։ Ministerivm Missae. Rome, Typis Sacrae Congregationis de Propaganda Fide, 1677. 1 parts in 1 vol. in-4, [2]-20 p. ; 30 p., contemporary fawn basane, 5-ribbed spine, cold-stamped boards (epidermure to spine, headpieces torn off, hinges split, quires out of order). Published in Rome, this work is the subject of two attributions. It is either considered a work of St. John Chrysostom (Hovhannes Voskeberan), Father of the Church and Patriarch of Constantinople, whose portrait and dedication appear on the verso of the title, or a compilation and revision by Hovhannes Kostandnupolsetsi (Hovhannes Holov), an Armenian scholar and vardapet active in Rome in the 17th century. Printed in red and black on two columns, in accordance with Armenian manuscript conventions, the work is decorated with bands and typographical frames in the same tones. It is illustrated with three woodcut vignettes. Three blank leaves are inserted between the two parts; the recto of the first contains a handwritten text in Armenian. A rare copy combining two parts in a single volume. Only one copy appears to be located at the Matenadaran, the research institute dedicated to Old Armenian manuscripts. In other catalogs, each part is listed separately.
