Geography textbook in Armenian presenting a descriptive synthesis of the four continents (Asia, Europe, Africa, America) according to the educational tradition of the XIXᵉ century. The work deals with the physical and political configuration of the regions, the characteristics of the populations, their cultures, climates, religions and ways of life, with particular emphasis on Western Asia.
The work is illustrated with three copper-engraved plates: a fold-out map of the Sea of Marmara, an important region for Armenians in the Ottoman Empire; a panoramic view of Vagharchapat (Etchmiadzin), showing the cathedral of Saint Etchmiadzin as well as the churches of Saint Henripsimé and Saint Gayané, major centers of Armenian Christianity; and a representation of the fortress of Van, a strong symbol of Armenian history and memory.
