Իգնատիոս Սեւլեռնցի [IGNACE DE SEVLERN]. Մեկնութիւն Սրբոյ Աւետարանին որ ըստ Ղուկասու [Commentary on the Gospel of Saint Luke]. Constantinople, Imprimerie Astvatsatur, 1735. In-8, 451-[1] p. (including engraved title), later speckled fawn half-basin, smooth spine, red title-piece, gilt roulette, speckled edges (spine, headpieces and joins rubbed, corners dulled, very slight foxing, marginal stains on qq. f.). First edition of the Commentary on the Gospel of Saint Luke by Ignatius of Sevlerni, an Armenian theologian and pastor of the 11th-12th centuries. The original manuscript was written at the request of Grigor III Pahlavuni. The original work has been preserved thanks to a manuscript copy made in 1204. This original edition includes a colophon and a table of contents. It is illustrated with a woodcut portrait of the author. The text, printed on two columns in an elegant border, is adorned with illustrated lettering and an altar band. Provenance: Le Vaillant de Florival (armorial label on front cover).
