Venice, Imprimerie Stepano Orlando and Imprimerie Antonio Bortoli, 1750-1751. 3 vol. in-8 (of 4), IC-482 p. + 591 p.+ 627 p., different bindings in full contemporary havana basane, ribbed spines, decorated bindings and boards, gilt edges (defects including rubbing to binding, upper jaw of t.1 split, leather missing from spine of t.2 and corner, worn edges, dull corners, wetness and soiling on qq. pages, without vol. 3). First Armenian translation of a scholastic treatise based on the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas, produced by the Mekhitarist Fathers. The work offers a synthesis of the principles of logic, physics, morality and metaphysics. Illustrated with typographical vignettes (diagrams, figures, diagrams) in the text, it also includes two full-page copper-engraved plates: Porphyry's Tree (t. I) and an artificial breathing machine (t. II). Provenance: Volume 1 given by Father Markos to Mr. Hakob, son of Mr. Varderes, in 1832 (handwritten note on verso of title page).
