[Manuscript]. Գալուստ Ամասիացի [Galust Amasiatsi]. [Medical manuscript]. Բժշկարան [Medical treatise]. [Armenia], 1823. In-4, 136 p., [2] blank f., ca. 24 x 17 cm. in full period brown shagreened basane, smooth compartmentalized spine, boards framed with gilt roulette, angular fleurons, paper title label on upper board, yellow edges (minor spotting, wormholes on lower board through qq. blank f. and index, not serious). Manuscript copy of a medical treatise from the Monastère des Enfants in Armenia. Main work by Galust Amasiatsi, an Armenian physician of the XVIIᵉ century, active from 1669 in several cities such as Sivas, Samsun, Constantinople, Aleppo, Van, Adana, Marash and Amid (Diyarbakır). He practiced in a variety of fields, including ophthalmology, surgery and internal medicine. His work Բժշկարան (Treatise on Medicine) covers anatomy, physiology, pathology, hygiene, as well as the preparation of complex remedies. It also includes a glossary of medical terms. The author cites major sources such as Amirdovlat Amasiatsi and Stepanos, and the section on anatomy is based on Abu Said's treatise, On the Constitution of Man. This manuscript reflects the richness of the Armenian medical tradition and the integration of Eastern scientific knowledge. Provenance: D.
