A fine copy of this illustrated Bible, with hand-colored illustrations, borders adorned with vignettes and gold-embellished initials.
According to the preface, this edition of the Bible, comprising the Old and New Testaments, was carefully organized and first printed in 1666 under the authority of Jacob, Catholicos of Armenia, and edited by the priest Voskan.
Designed according to Latin traditions, it aimed to harmonize the Holy Scriptures. The present reprint has been produced with high-quality paper, refined illustrations and elegant typography, thanks to the efforts of Mekhitar Vardapet of Sebaste, known as Abba Père.
The work features 156 woodcut vignettes colored in the period, with gold-embellished borders. The text is adorned with initials, entablatures and endpapers.
