Բառարան Անգղիարէն եւ Հայերէն։ [Dictionary between English and Armenian.] Venice, Imprimerie Sainte-Lazare, 1821-1825. 2 vols. in 4, 23-981-[2] p. + 25-[1]-640 p.., contemporary speckled fawn basane, smooth spine, blue titles and goblets (except title of t.1, green), gilt fleuron and roulette, boards framed with gilt roulette, gilt edges (binding defects including dull corners, epidermal marks and stains, rubbed joins and cuts, hinges of vol. 2 split, light russetting on some pages, marginal wetness towards the end of the 2 volumes). Harutyun Avgerian, also known as Pascal Aucher (1774-1854), was an Armenian linguist, lexicographer and translator, member of the Mekhitarist Order of Venice. The author of many major works, he is particularly renowned for his contributions to the English-Armenian, French-Armenian and Italian-Armenian dictionaries. Avgerian has also distinguished himself through his outstanding translations from several languages. Handwritten inscription: "H.J. Arakelian, June 1857".
