[ Atlas]. ROBERT DE VAUGONDY (Gilles and Didier). Atlas portatif universel composé d'après les meilleures cartes tant gravées que manuscrites A Paris, bureau de l'Atlas National, [c. 1790]. In-4 oblong, approx. 21 x 27 cm, [2] f., 189 plates, contemporary green half-basane, smooth compartmentalized spine, gilt title and gilt border (spine and edges rubbed, worm damage in inner margins at beginning of volume, 2 maps lacking). New edition, published around 1790 according to the address, made up of reproductions of the copperplates of the atlas published in 1748-49 by Robert de Vaugondy. It consists of 189 (out of 191) copper-engraved maps printed on azure paper with contours colored at the time, illustrating details of various parts of the world. The general maps of the Rhine (34) and the Po (55) are missing, but the detailed maps that follow them are present.
