Long before it produced the legendary Daytona, Rolex offered several types of chronograph nicknamed "Pre Daytona". Reference 6234 is interesting because it sets the stage for the Daytona with an Oyster case, but above all with a three-counter dial, Valjoux 72 caliber and a layout with the second hand at 9 o'clock, which will remain so until reference 16520. This model is fitted with a bracelet produced in the USA, marked "ROLEX USA C-I" to circumvent taxes on products made in Switzerland and resold in the USA.
