DEDICATION TO ELSA TRIOLET Elsa Triolet (Ella Yurievna Kagan) was a Franco-Russian author who was very active in Surrealist intellectual and artistic circles in the early 20th century. On the eve of the Second World War, Elsa married one of the co-founders of Surrealism, the writer Louis Aragon, a key player in the Paris literary scene. The couple were very active in the Resistance during the war and strongly committed to left-wing political causes afterwards. This work was created by Miro in memory of his friendship with Elsa. It is dated June 18, 1970, two days after Elsa's death. TEMPORARY IMPORT LOT
